FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
For the second year in a row Hurst Performance Research, Inc. will produce a limited production "muscle" car based on the 4-4-2. Like the '68 version, this year's model will be called the Hurst/Olds - and once it's seen and driven will in all probability earn the same nickname, "Hary Olds." The Hurst/Olds is without question one of the best equipped and finest performing members of the "Supercar" class. It includes a long list of properly designed performance and heavy-duty equipment. plus a special exterior design treatment for unique charachter identification. The car will be marketed by over 400 Oldsmobile dealers begining in April. Plans at present are ro produce 700 units. All cars are dealer committed and many have been sold "sight unseen" to the customers who wanted to but couldn't obtain one of last year's limited production models. The Hurst/Olds is equipped with a brute of an engine - a special version of the 455 cubic inch Rocket V-8. Horsepower rating is 380 with a whopping 500 foot-pounds of torque. At highway speeds this engine is just loafing, with a substantial power reserve for passing and acceleration. Special engine features include cylinder head assemblies with chrome silicon heat set valve springs, a high overlap camshaft, modified distributor calibration, super finish crankshaft, conecc rod bearings, modified intake manifold, dual crankcase ventilation and a special air cleaner for cold air induction. Perched on the hood is a dual inlet air scoop which admits cooler outside air to carburetor for exceptional acceleration and top end performance. (313) 399-4400 (more)
